Winter can be a great time of personal and spiritual growth, but if you aren’t intentional about the time, you may look up in the spring and realize you spent the entire winter binge-watching Netflix or checking social media on your phone. There are so many ways you can use this time to bring personal growth.
Protect your health, get some fresh air every day. Go outside. Even if it is cold, bundle up and go for a walk, or just sit on your porch and breathe deeply.
Rest, give your nervous system a break, stretch out on the floor with pillows and blankets in corpse pose. See how refreshed you are after just 10 minutes.
Start or renew a home yoga practice, roll out your yoga mat and work with your body and mind. Reconnect with yourself.
Begin your day with meditation by sitting quietly, it doesn’t matter where. From the floor, a chair, even your bed, focus on your breath, feel the rise and fall of your chest for 5 to 10 minutes each day, and voila… you are meditating.
Learn a new skill by signing up for an online class, anything from Yoga to cooking to fixing computers can be found on the internet these days.
Sit in the sun for a few minutes every day. Something as simple as sitting in front of a window, creating a warm, cozy spot feels nice.
